Ashdod Port Quays

Quay rehabilitation in a port splash zone

Following decades of usage, three quays in the splash zone at the Ashdod port had severely deteriorated.  The sheet pile walls, piles, and concrete casting all needed to be completely rehabilitated. SeaTech prepared the areas for casting, provided concrete blasting services, built complex custom-made steel shutter boxes, and implemented a huge number of castings of 1-80 cubic meters and more.

The Challenge

1

The visibility in the working area, at a depth of 0.5-2-meters, was extremely limited, making execution difficult.

2

The quays accumulated massive corrosion due to the weather conditions in the splash zone.

3

Frequent movement of small and large vessels in the area complicated operations.

4

Placement and sealing of the shutters prior to casting was extremely challenging due to the conditions.

“SeaTech took charge of this project from day one, with deep industry expertise, strong cooperation with third-party suppliers, and professionalism throughout. Despite the need for incredibly specific weather conditions, the project was completed successfully, and we now have visibility exactly where we need it.”
