Arribel Vessel Salvage

Creative financing and advanced techniques supported a complex salvage operation.

The Arribel vessel removed a variety of materials from the quays of the Israel Shipyard Company for many years. One day, as it waited in the port, a partition wall near its containers collapsed, causing the vessel to capsize and sink near the quay. As a result, this important quay was blocked for several months. SeaTech was in charge of salvaging the vessel.

The Challenge

1

The extremely harsh visual conditions in Haifa Port are the worst in Israel—visibility is <10 cm.

2

The area is near the Kishon River estuary and is extremely polluted.

3

The project was under-budgeted, and other leading providers were not interested in taking it on.

“SeaTech took charge of this project from day one, with deep industry expertise, strong cooperation with third-party suppliers, and professionalism throughout. Despite the need for incredibly specific weather conditions, the project was completed successfully, and we now have visibility exactly where we need it.”
